1. Who we are
MenuPix (“MenuPix,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the MenuPix mobile application and the website at menupix.co (together, the “Service”). This policy applies to the Service. If you have questions, contact us at privacy@menupix.co.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
You can browse MenuPix without an account. If you choose to create one, we collect:
- Account details — your email address and password (passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are never stored by us in readable form).
- Profile information — an optional display name, phone number, short bio, and avatar image, if you choose to add them.
- Your favorites — the dishes and restaurants you save so they’re there next time you sign in.
Location
If you grant location permission, MenuPix uses your device’s location only while the app is open to show what’s good in your area and to label your neighborhood (for example, “Near You”). Your precise GPS coordinates are converted into a place name on your device and are not transmitted to or stored on our servers. You can decline or revoke location access at any time in your device settings — the app still works, you’ll just set your area manually.
Push notifications
If you opt in to notifications, we register a push token from Apple or Google (via the Expo push service) so we can send you alerts about new restaurants and dishes. The token is tied to your account and is removed when you turn notifications off or sign out. You can disable notifications any time in the app or your device settings.
Information collected automatically
Like most online services, our hosting and infrastructure providers process basic technical data (such as IP address and device/app version) as needed to deliver the Service securely and to diagnose problems. We do not use advertising trackers or sell this data.
3. How we use your information
- To provide and personalize the Service — showing relevant restaurants, dishes, and your saved items.
- To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
- To send notifications you’ve opted into.
- To maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the Service.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
4. How your information is shared
We share information only with service providers who help us run MenuPix, including:
- Supabase — our database, authentication, and file storage provider, which hosts your account and profile data.
- Expo / Apple / Google — to deliver push notifications to your device.
- Hosting and content-delivery providers — to serve the app, website, and images.
These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments. We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the Service.
5. Data retention
We keep your account and profile information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we’re required to retain it to meet legal obligations.
6. Your rights and choices
- Access & correction — view and edit your profile details in the app.
- Location & notifications — control these permissions in your device settings at any time.
- Deletion — you can request deletion of your account and associated personal data by emailing privacy@menupix.co. We’ll verify your request and remove your data as described above.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA (for example, to access, port, or object to certain processing). Contact us to exercise them.
7. Children’s privacy
MenuPix is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
8. Security
We use industry-standard measures — encryption in transit, access controls, and trusted infrastructure providers — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data and to respond promptly to any incident.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
